Masseria Serra dell’Isola is a charming countryside mansion surrounded by acres of olive groves and vineyards, situated in the heart of the Puglia rustica, on a hillock overlooking the town by the sea of Mola di Bari, and close to Conversano.

The core of Serra dell’Isola is the great vault (lamione), a stone built room, once used as an olive oil mill (frantoio), serving as a large living room. The meter thick walls provide a cool habitat during hot summers and a warm shelter during wintertime, with the smell of wood burning in the walk-in fireplace and in the stoves.

My library is a well of curiosity and interest for my guests. Within the quietness of my gardens you will discover the joy of laying under the trees while reading a good book, and feel the mistral wind blowing; the “wind of the Lords”, as the farmers used to call it, because of the gentle breeze that gets up in the late morning and brings here the pleasant smell of the sea.

The many paths outside its white washed walls will lead you to places, legends, emotions that escape the hurried tourist…

The Masseria is the ideal point of departure for many interesting excursions among Romanesque cathedrals, Norman, Swabian and Angevin castles, like those in Bari, Conversano and Mola di Bari, as well as the intact medieval villages, like Polignano, Ancient Bari, and Monopoli.
